The Spencer Theater is an intimate, award-winning, architecturally stunning performance hall set on a mesa between two mountain ranges in Alto, New Mexico, just north of Ruidoso. Presenting national and international performing arts tours, the venue is a major tourist attraction.

Since its opening in 1997, the Spencer Theater has hosted a variety of award-winning national touring productions including a variety of concerts, stage productions, ballets, illusionists, and children’s programs. While hosting these renowned performances, the Theater provides an intimate setting with only 514 seats. Additional services are available, such as meals prior to performances, free weekly tours and event rentals.

The Spencer Theater’s mission is to provide access to arts and culture to the residents and visitors of Southeast New Mexico. Through grants and fundraising awarded by our non-profit status, the Theater is poised to bring a variety of experiences to those willing to adventure off the beaten path to experience this land of enchantment jewel that is the Spencer Theater.
