Location: United Way of Lea County, 320 N. Shipp Ste B, Hobbs, NM
Hours: 20 hours per week
Compensation: $15/per hour
Job Summary:
United Way of Lea County is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Part-Time Administrative Assistant to provide clerical and administrative support to help ensure smooth daily operations. This role involves a range of tasks from managing communications to assisting with event planning, data entry, and community engagement. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a passion for community service, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in support of the mission to improve lives in Lea County.
Key Responsibilities:
• Answer and manage phone calls, emails, and office communications professionally and courteously.
• Maintain organized filing systems for donor information, office records, and community partner documents.
• Assist with scheduling meetings, organizing events, and coordinating logistics for United Way campaigns and initiatives.
• Provide support in the preparation of reports, presentations, and marketing materials.
• Assist in maintaining donor and volunteer databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of information.
• Coordinate and maintain office supplies, materials, and equipment.
• Support the planning and execution of special events, fundraising activities, and community outreach efforts.
• Handle general bookkeeping tasks such as processing invoices, tracking donations, and managing receipts (if applicable).
• Assist with social media updates and other communication efforts to engage the community and promote events.
• Liaise with volunteers, community members, donors, and partner organizations on behalf of United Way.
• Other administrative duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications and Skills:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
• Prior experience in an administrative assistant or office assistant role, ideally in a nonprofit organization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and basic office technology.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
• Friendly and professional demeanor, with a strong commitment to serving the community.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team.
• Knowledge of social media platforms and basic marketing principles is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in the nonprofit sector or familiarity with United Way initiatives.
• Understanding of community engagement, volunteer management, or fundraising processes.
