Conservation Field Technician (Entry Level) – Milnesand
CEHMM is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that offers a wide verity of environmental services to clients throughout southern New Mexico. Our environmental services department specializes in natural resources assessment and environmental permitting at the federal and state levels. A successful candidate will gain a working knowledge of the plants and wildlife of New Mexico and the ability to conduct field work in an arid climate.
The Conservation Field Technician is a full-time hourly permanent position located in Milnesand, NM reporting to the District II Project Manager . The Conservation Field Technician will accomplish a wide variety of client needs including but not limited to:
- Wildlife surveys (burrowing owl, raptor, herps, lesser prairie-chicken, etc.)
- Special Status Plant Species Surveys
- Cave and karst surveys
- Water and soil sampling
- Monitoring open trench for wildlife
- Data organization
- Mapping
- Technical writing
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to work long hours in the field with potentially undesirable conditions.
- Ability to hike up to 5 miles a day.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
- A Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Environmental Science, Wildlife Science, Ecology, Biology, Geology, or related fields
- Working knowledge of ArcGIS
- Experience with plant and wildlife surveys
