Senior Safety & Health Consultant (WCA #21653)
The purpose of this position is to assistance New Mexico business communities with support of a safe working environment by maintaining Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) administrative processes, conducting basic OSH training, and effectively using a range of OSH tools and processes to comply with New Mexico Workers' Compensation Administration Laws and Regulations.
The key responsibilities for this position is to conduct a safety analysis of business accidents and injuries; identify systemic patterns and trends that may contribute to safety hazards and/or work related injuries; determine if businesses are an ideal candidate for enrollment into the Risk Reduction Program; provide notification of required safety audits and inspections, research, track and record business information utilizing various safety data bases.
Perform safety inspections and audits for a variety of business industries to ensure compliance with the $15k Annual Safety Inspection Program; contact businesses that are non-compliant by phone or field visit; research, track, and enter detail business information into a safety database; prepare enforcement referral cases for businesses not compliant with safety statues; and attend enforcement hearings.
Participate in regional business outreach efforts; conduct safety training classes for businesses as necessary; perform ergonomic evaluations; complete audits in support of the Self-Insurance Program as assigned; attend conferences; and perform other duties related to the Worker's Compensation Administration safety program.
