Environmental Services Manager

CEHMM is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that offers a wide verity of environmental services to clients throughout southern New Mexico. Our environmental services department specializes in natural resources assessment and environmental permitting at the federal and state levels. A successful candidate will gain a working knowledge of the plants and wildlife of New Mexico and the ability to conduct field work in an arid climate.
The Environmental Services Manager is a permanent full-time position located in Carlsbad, NM, reporting to the Operations Manager. The Environmental Services Manager will accomplish a wide variety of client needs including but not limited to:

  • Develop project plans, project scope, goals, deliverables, project tasks, and resource requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and manage operational procedures, processes, policies, and schedules.
  • Review and submission of Environmental Assessments (EA) and associated reports.
  • Review and submission of State Land permits and associated reports.
  • Assist with developing and managing project budgets.
  • Track project deliverables.
  • Manage  staff and provide guidance and training as needed.
  • Prepare and organize work schedules and procedures.
  • Ensure project activities comply with all relevant local, state, and federal environmental laws and regulations.
  • Report work progress and problems to Operations Manager.
  • Prepare and present reports on project progress, problems, and solutions.
  • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
  • Provide oversight for project continuance by obtaining additional funds by revising or renewing client work orders/quotes for a project before the initial work order/quote has been exhausted or is nearing its quoted amount in order to maintain the momentum and progress of the project.
  • Provide oversight for all contracts and service agreements related to projects.
  • Maintain good working relationships with clients and stakeholders, including supervisors, co-workers, and the public.
  • Perform record keeping as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $133,000 annually. CEHMM offers a very relaxed work environment with flexible schedules, competitive compensation, benefits including 401K, quality insurance options, relocation reimbursement, education reimbursement, and clothing allowance.
 
 
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in applicable field, or equivalent, or
  • Minimum of seven years’ direct relevant experience..
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
 
  • Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of the NEPA process, including Environmental Assessments (EAs) and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs) Knowledge of the NEPA process.
  • Experience with project management principles and practices.
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short and long-range goals.
  • Experience with development and tracking of contracts, services agreements, purchase orders (POs), Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • Possess a working knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
  • Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems.
  • Organizational and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
 
  • Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Wildlife Science, Ecology, Biology, Geology, or related fields.
  • Minimum of five years’ direct relevant experience.
